Is that a plant on his underpants?!

Hello world.

It's 8:11 a.m. here in Montevideo. Ana, my dear friend from Poland; Shantala, my roomate and dear friend from Mississippi; Sabrina, my dear Uruguayan friend; and Ami, my dear friend from UNC and I decided to do it big and take a bus 45 minutes from here to Antantida. That was at about 12:30 a.m. today.

Many dances, lots of pick up lines (oh, you're studying international relations? I study international business. We should compile an international plan to strengthen the relationship between our countries) and lots of "ohhh de donde sos" later, we were stilllll dancing. Under the stars. Because the club was on the beach. Outside.

After a quick nap on the bus ride home, we said thank you to the bus driver and began what in the US would be called a walk of shame, but here in Montevideo, is rather a walk of pride. After all, we did manage to stay out until the sun comes up.

A small (as are all cars in Uruguay) car drove past us. Since we had absolutely no idea where we were, we joked about trying to get the people in the car to give us a ride home. It's like they could read our minds. The car backed up and a surprisingly-energetic-for-7:45 a.m.-on-a-Sunday-morning-man stuck his head out the window and of course asked us "de donde son?" Like we have not heard that one before. The men here really do need a lesson on how to pick up women.

Naturally, they turned off their car and all got out to greet us. Besos on the cheek for all of us, weren't we lucky. The man in the backseat, though, was not as quick to jump out of the car. Maybe it was because he was wearing nothing but his underwear. Nude underwear. With a plant on the front of the underwear, actually.

Taxi. Yup, we grabbed one quickly. We were not trying to be the victims of pirate-party-going-desperate boys. The two clothed guys were dressed like they were trying to rep Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean.

What we thought would be a nice little snooze on the Taxi ride home to Pocitos was, i guess rudely is an appropriate adjective, interrupted.

The pirate boys and their naked friend followed us in their baby car. The first stop sign involved them pulling up as close as possible on the right side of us, the second stop sign, the left hand side of us.

Then, naked nude-colored-plant-underwear guy got out of the car and walked across the street. Note he was not wearing any shoes.

His friends were fighters. They did not give up. They followed us until we got out of the taxi. "Do you want to stay friends?" They so beggingly asked us.

They then proceeded to park their car and follow us in their pirate outfits to our house. We then proceeded to run and make Marito, essentially our attack dog, do his job.

Then we ate a nice breakfast of bread.

Day three was a success, I must say.
